One Month (5 week) Check up and other Updates
Ella saw her doctor today for her one month check-up (although she is 5 weeks + 1 day old today). She weighed 10 lbs 7.6 oz (90%), measured 22 in. long (75 - 90%), and has a head circumference of 39.5 in. (75%). So, she is growing well which makes everyone (especially the milk machine Mom) feel good.
She also got her first shot today (Hep B) and did not like it one bit. Needless to say, I am not looking forward to next month's check up when she gets the full set of shots. Otherwise she is doing very well in all aspects that the doctor checks. We've had a few smiles and expect more in the coming weeks. We're hoping to catch one on camera soon to share with everyone.
Mom and Dad are also doing well. Most nights she sleeps for 5-6 hours, but occasionally she'll wake up every 3 hours. We get a good stretch often enough that both Reid and I aren't feeling too sleep deprived. (And she's taking a bottle, so Reid gives her a nighttime feeding from time to time so that I can get a longer stretch.)
Ella, Penny, and I also survived our first few nights alone without Dad while Reid was at a conference in Baltimore Thursday and Friday nights. Everyone seems to have come through okay, but we missed him! (Penny may have missed him the most, although Ella and I did manage to take her to the park to run around with the other dogs.)
In other news, we've finally started on cloth diapers. Three days in, things seem to be going well. No blow-outs or leaks and she seems to like them just fine. It makes me happier not to be going through 10+ disposable diapers a day. Hopefully we'll be able to stick with it and make it work for us. I know you have your doubts . . .
And we're getting excited for Grandma Griffith/Liz-Mom's visit later this week!
